I love the hell out of Alessandra Sanguinetti and her two bodies work, On the Seventh Day and The Adventures of Guille and Belinda and the Enigmatic Meaning of their Dreams, were fundamental in my college years. So it bums me out to post this because I’m a big believer in not hating or talking shit/keeping my mouth closed when I don’t have nice things to say.
HOWEVER I’ve been seriously disappointed with 98% of the work that Postcards From America has published from these trips. Just because you’re a photographer that excels in your given field you’ve worked in your entire career doesn’t mean it can be parlayed into work made for the immediate tumblr/internetsphere. Unless you’re Thomas Prior.
Editing your work down is still important. This edited, considered narrative part of what I loved about Alessandra’s work. But posts like these are kinda like seeing your heroes tumble down from the sky.
Sorry, I’ve bit my lip on nearly every post I’ve been seeing on Postcards From America andI finally had to speak it. Not trying to start an internet war.
